Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013 aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions. The central funding (in the ratio of 60:40 for general category States, 90:10 for special category states and 100% for union territories) would be norm-based and outcome-dependent. The funding would flow from the central ministry through the state governments/union territories to the State Higher Education Councils before reaching the identified institutions. The funding to states would be made on the basis of the critical appraisal of State Higher Education Plans. which would describe each states strategy to address issues of equity, access, and excellence in higher education. GEC Palanpur has received grants under component 9 Equity initiative & 12 Vocationalization of Higher Education, from Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat Ahmedabad.
Component 9 (Equity Initiatives)
The main objective of RUSA component 9 is to provide equal opportunities to Female students, SC/ST/OBCs & other economically weaker sections by conducting activities/programs like gender counseling and Self Enhancement of girls, remedial classes etc.
Component-12 (Vocationalization of Higher Education)
The main objective of RUSA component 12 is to improve to quality of higher education and increase the employability of students by providing a vocational course. Under this scheme institute has conducted various training programs at institutes like IGTR Ahmedabad and CIPET Ahmedabad.
Component 9 (Equity Initiatives) :
- Purchase of books and cupboards for SC/ST/OBC Students.(Year:2015-16)
- Importance of yoga in life and Awareness regarding physical fitness to perform better. (Year:2015-16)
- A program to aware girls with laws and constituents. (Year:2015-16)
- A seminar on awareness of women health. (Year:2021-22)
- Anaemia & adolescent problems in Gynaecologist and Nutrition Awareness. (Year:2021-22)
- Grooming Classes for female students. (Year:2021-22)
- English Speaking Classes. (Year:2021-22)
